The Skogen family (Joey, Bethany, Georgia and Boaz) joined the Covenant family on July 1!

Joey is the son of a PCA minister in Southern Pines, North Carolina. He is the fourth son in a lineup of six children and has been in the denomination his entire life. He will be married to his beautiful wife Bethany for three years on July the 20th. Together they have two children; Georgia (2 yrs) and Boaz (7 mo).

Joey was raised in North Georgia, although he was born in Tacoma, Washington, not far from where Bethany was raised -- just outside Seattle. Joey played football at Wheaton College for two years before transferring to Appalachian State University where he studied communications. Joey and Bethany met in January 2013 in Moscow, Idaho where Bethany attended New Saint Andrews College and Joey worked as an apprentice to a carpenter.  After dating for just three weeks, they were engaged in April, married in July, and became pregnant in September 2013.

Joey has been involved in youth ministry for the past three years at his father's church where he led the music for youth group, taught Sunday school, and coached a homeschool football team for the previous two years. The Lord has given Joey and Bethany a heart for the young people of His kingdom. They are eager to disciple the youth; to walk with and encourage them in the ways of the Lord.  Joey is especially excited to build long lasting relationships with the young people of Covenant PCA for Christ and His Kingdom.

Joey and Bethany are kept busy by their two wonderful children, and when there is time, they enjoy fellowshipping with family and friends, playing games and watching sporting events. Joey is an avid sports fan, but he mostly enjoys Georgia football, the Seattle Seahawks, and his favorite athlete LeBron James.
